PANCHAYATRAJ ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT (PRED)

PROFILE

                       The Panchayati Raj Engineering Department (PRED) is an engineering wing of PR & RD Department. The objective of PRED is to plan, design, execute and maintain needed infrastructure facilities in rural areas for the economic development of rural people in Andhra Pradesh

                       The main object of the Panchayati Raj Engineering Department is mainly on rural development ie. connecting all habitations in a phased manner to all weather roads to facilitate access to educational, medical, marketing facilities, improvements/repairs to the existing roads, Construction of MPP buildings, school Buildings and other institution Buildings, maintenance of school buildings and other Building as per the instructions of Government & also internal roads improvements in village limits etc.

ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE

SCHEME/ACTIVITIES/ACTION PLAN

PMGSY (Centrally Sponsored Scheme) 

                       The Government of India has conceived a time bound plan under Bharat Nirman to provide all weather connectivity to rural areas through Pradhan Manthri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) on highest priority. Under this programme, habitations with population of  500 (250 in case of hilly or tribal areas) and above are to be connected in phased manner.  Phase 1 & Phase 2 are completed, Phase 3 is in progress and Phase 4 is under proposal stage.

 NABARD (RIDF) Roads (Normal) 

                       The programme is being implemented from 1996-97 in phases i.e., RIDF I, RIDF II, etc., and now currently RIDF XXIX & XXX are under progress. It is proposed to connect maximum number of villages to the nearest agriculture market centers and big towns by upgrading the existing roads to BT standards.

APRRP (AIIB) 

                       The Andhrapradesh Rural Road Project financed by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank mainly deals with providing connectivity to the habitations having 250 + Population with all weather roads (BT& CC)including CD works & Bridges as required and currently the works sanctioned under this program are under progress.

M.G.N.R.E.G.S.

                       The main aim of the Panchayat Raj Engineering Department under this scheme is to provide rural infrastructure (Internal CC roads/approach roads(BT/WMM),  Buildings, Compound walls etc.) as well as providing employment to the wage seekers under MGNREGS Act.
