Profile
The Department of Handlooms and Textiles Department is concerned with Handlooms and Powerlooms in the Cooperative and decentralised sector and setting up of Apparel and Textile Parks in the Garment sector.
Handloom weavers are concentrated in Venkatagiri, Gudur, Sullurupeta, Tada, Srikalahasti, B.N. Kandriga, Puttur and Narayanavanam. In the District there are 2500 Handlooms in Cooperative fold, 1500 looms in outside Cooperative fold and 2500 Powerlooms. Silk sarees, Venkatagiri Cotton and silk sarees with Jari, Kalamkari sarees, Cotton Towels and Dhoties are the main varieties. The handloom products are sold in the Exhibitions, Samishti Sales outlets and through APCO.
CORE FUNCTIONS
a. Supervision of Cooperative Societies
Verification of Books and Records of the Weavers Coop. Societies, providing them Cash Credit, Marketing Incentive, Thrift and other schemes.
b. Implementation of Welfare Scheme
Ike provision of 200 units free power to weavers, identifying weavers for provision of Mudra loans, Skill upgradation Training, ONDC, HEPC, IHB Enrolment etc.,
c. Supervision of Small Cluster Development Projects (SCDPs)
Conducting Awareness Programmes on Small Cluster Development Projects in Srikalahasti, Narayanavanam, implementation of Skill Development provision of looms and accessories to weavers, supply of new designs to cluster members.

SCHEMES/ACTIVIIES/ACTION PLAN
1. In Tirupati District there are 49 Primary Handloom Weavers Coop. Societies. Out of which 29 are working.
2. 5712 Handloom weavers are getting an Old Age Pension of Rs.4000/- per month under NTR Bharosa.
3. For the year 2024-25, a target of 413 was fixed under Weavers Mudra Scheme. 148 weavers were sanctioned Mudra loans to an extent of Rs.136.75 lakhs.
4. The following Handloom Clusters were sanctioned under National Handloom Development Programme for the years 2024-25 and 2025-26.
