Profile

             The primary goal of an electricity distribution company (DISCOM) is to ensure the reliable and efficient delivery of electricity to consumers and collecting payment from consumers, managing customer service, and ensuring the safety and security of the electricity supply. Tirupati Circle was created from parts of the erstwhile Chittoor District and the erstwhile Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore (SPSR Nellore) District.

            After Districts bifurcation APSPDCL Tirupati Circle consists of 5 divisions namely  Tirupati Operation, Tirupati Rurals, Puttur, Gudur & Naidupeta.

Schemes/Activities/Action Plan

  • RDSS (Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme)

                   Under this scheme, Government of India funded an amount of 681Cr. to new Tirupati district and contract made for segregation of agriculture and domestic lines. Due to this, in future 9 hours supply will be given to farmers and also 24hrs 3-Ph supply will be given in rural areas for   improvement of industrial sector.

                   Survey was completed for the 381 feeders and work was completed for 131 feeders and remaining was work under progress.

  • PM – Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana

             PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijlee Yojana is a Central Scheme that aims to provide free electricity to one crore households in India, who opt to install roof top solar electricity unit. 

             The scheme provides for a subsidy of Rs.30,000 up to 1KW capacity and subsidy of Rs. 60,000 up to 2 KW capacity and subsidy of Rs.60,000 in addition to this Rs.18,000 per KW thus totalling of Rs.78,000 subsidy given upto 3KW Capacity.  The subsidy has been capped at 3 KW capacity.

  • PMKUSUM Scheme: Feeder Level Solarization

           Government of Andhra Pradesh has been at the forefront in promoting renewable energy and has made significant strides in harnessing the solar power. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has recently given Shapath Patra to the MNRE, Government of India, during RE-INVEST 2024, committing itself, to add 72.60 GW Renewable Energy capacity in the state by the year 2030.

           The Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has formulated an “Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024” to maximize RE capacity addition and proposed certain incentives therein. Under the policy, it is proposed to encourage both large scale and decentralized Renewable Energy generation in the State.

           APSPDCL was proposed to solarize 600 agriculture feeders which will enable daytime power supply to the agriculture pump sets under these feeders. In Tirupati district total 11KV feeders targeted for solarization is 135Nos. out of which for 54 feeders land also identified to provide solar panels.

  • Agriculture Services under SPA-PE

                The SPA-PE (Special Projects for Agriculture Pump Sets Energization) scheme is a government initiative focused on energizing agricultural pump sets by providing electricity connections to borewells.

                Government and state electricity boards may provide financial assistance and subsidies for connecting agricultural bore wells under this scheme.
