The main objectives of the Backward Classes Welfare Department are Educational Advancement, Socio-Economic Development, Welfare and Protection of B.C. Castes and implementation of various Schemes. The said objectives are being achieved by this Department through different wings.

Post Matric scholarships (RTF & MTF)
The Schemes “Post Matric Scholarships ( RTF & MTF )” announced to provide financial assistance to poor students in various categories (SC/ST/BC/EBC/MIN/DW) Sanctioning under SATURATION MODE. Students who are studying ITI, Polytechnic, Degree and above courses to enable them to pursue their education without any financial burden.
- Post Matric Scholarships (RTF) is to provide complete fee reimbursement to every eligible student. Full fee i.e., Tuition Fee, Special Fees, Other Fees & Exam Fees as defined in the G.O.Ms.No.115, SW(Edn) Dept., Dated: 30.11.2019 basing on the fee fixed by the Competent authorities.
- Post Matric Scholarships (MTF) is to provide Rs.10,000/- per person to ITI students, Rs.15,000/- per person to Polytechnic students, Rs.20,000/- per person for other Degree and above courses per year to every eligible student for Food and Hostel expenses. Income Eligibility, the total family annual income to be less than or equal to Rs.2.50 Lakhs and the total land holding of the family to be less than 10.00 acres of wet or 25.00 acres of dry or 25.00 acres both wet and dry land together.
AMBEDKAR OVERSEAS VIDYA NIDHI (AOVN)
“The Family income shall not be exceeded Rs. 8.00 Lakhs per annum. In case of married student, income certificate of spouse shall also be taken into account. In case of employees in the family of the student, salary certificate issued by the employer is to be produced mandatorily. A copy of the latest Tax Assessment as well as the latest monthly salary slip from the employer is also required to be submitted along with the application. In all cases, the Income Certificate must be certified by the District Collector only. 10% of the income certificates so issued shall be verified by the Commissioner of respective welfare Department, for confirmation of the correctness of family income, before issue of final orders for selected candidates”
MAINTENANCE OF B.C. RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS
At present, 7 B.C. Residential Schools are functioning in Tirupati District. Out of which 5 are meant for Boys and 2 for Girls. The ratio for admission of students into B.C. Residential Schools: B.C-A: 20%, B.C-B: 28%, B.C-C: 3%, B.C-D: 19%, B.C-E: 4%, S.C: 15%, S.T: 6%, EBC: 2% and Orphans: 3%. In Fishermen Schools: Fishermen children- 46%, B.C-A: 7%, B.C-B: 10%, B.C-C: 1%, B.C-D: 7%, B.C-E: 4%, S.C: 15%, S.T: 6%, EBC: 1%, Orphans: 3%.
INCENTIVES FOR CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATIONS
Government of Andhra Pradesh have introduced a new scheme in the name of “Incentives for Civil Services Examinations” to provide financial assistance as cash incentive to the aspirants of socially, educationally and economically weaker/backward sections of Andhra Pradesh, who are qualified in the Preliminary and Mains Civil Services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), for an amount of Rs. 1.00 Lakh and Rs. 50,000/- respectively for the number of attempts permitted by the UPSC.
A.P.STUDY CIRCLE FOR B.C’s
The Government have sanctioned one B.C. Study Circle at Tirupathi to provide coaching and training to B.C. candidates preparing for Group-I, Group-II, Banking exams etc., vide G.O.Ms.No.16. At present Mega D.S.C. Free coaching has been conducted for 75 candidates in the A.P. Study Circle for B.C’s at Tirupati for a period of 60 days for the year 2024-2025.
SPECIAL LIBRARY FOR B.C’s
The Government have sanctioned one Special Library for B.C’s at Tirupati and it was located at Chennareddy colony, Tirupati. There are Engineering and Medicine books available for B.C. Students.
S.R.SANKARAN KNOWLEDGE CENTERS
S.R.Sankaran Knowledge centers are established in the following 4 Govt. B.C. Welfare Hostels for the year 2024-2025 and an amount of Rs.2.10 Lakhs sanctioned to establish the said centers.

PROVIDING OF INVERTERS TO GOVT. B.C. WELFARE HOSTELS
The Government have supplied inverters to 35 Govt.B.C. Welfare Hostels for the year 2024-2025.
CONSTRUCTION OF COMMUNITY SANTITARY COMPLEXES IN GOVT. B.C. WELFARE HOSTELS
The Managing Director, Swachha Andhra Corporation, Vijayawada have sanctioned Administrative sanction for an amount of Rs.138.00 Lakhs for construction of 46 Community Sanitary Complexes (CSC’s) near 09 Govt. B.C. Welfare Hostels for the year 2024-2025.
